Welcome to Pictavia

- a Visitor Centre which tells the story of Scotland's ancient Pictish tribes, a warrior people who roamed Angus nearly two thousand years ago. Discover their stories, battles, music, art - discover their lives.

These 1st Millennium settlers in Angus left us a mysterious legacy of carved stones, bearing their iconic images of birds, beasts, warriors and symbols, which to this day watch over the landscape all around the county. Follow the Angus Pictish Trail for a fascinating tour of these important sites. Click the links for information.

Pictavia is set in the beautiful countryside park at Brechin Castle Centre. Facilities include a restaurant, play area and retail outlet.

Easter - Mid October:
9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday
10.30am to 5.30pm Sunday
Mid October - Easter:
9.00am to 5.00pm Saturday
10.00am to 5.00pm Sunday

  • Child/elderly/concession - £2.25
  • Child under 5 - Free
  • Family (max. 2 adults + 3 children) - £10.00

Pictavia is graded at 4 stars by VisitScotland and has audio visual presentations, tactile surfaces, and touch-screen interactive technology - fun for enquiring minds of all ages. Group and educational visits are welcome - and the Centre, with the Country Park and restaurant adjacent, is a great place for a family day out.
